Floods break the road connecting Nepal-India

Jhapa: A temporary gravel road to India that connects the Mechi Bridge in Bhadrapur, Jhapa has been washed away. The torrential downpour on the Mechi River along with continuous rains since Tuesday has completely blocked the gravel road connecting the bridge on Wednesday morning.

The flood also sank the temporary posts near the Indian Army SSB near Dasgaja. Police and Bhadrapur police inspector Yam Kumar Shrestha said that the road was completely blocked by the motorcycle and small four wheels vehicles.
The Kishanganj district Bhad gaun Village Panchayat had constructed a culvert to connect the Mechi bridge at around Rs.7 lakhs.

The Bhadrapur municipality had constructed a 100 meter road by placing the workers under the Prime Minister's Employment Program by placing hume pipes to connect the road after India created the temporary road.
The Mechi bridge, with a length of 9 meters and 9 pillars of 9.5 meters width, was constructed at a cost of Rs. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli inaugurated the Mechi Bridge on January 3.

Despite the inauguration of the bridge without drainage, the four-wheeler was easy to transport by road, motorcycle, bicycle and pedestrian only.
